Rice

Sona Masoori Rice
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 25 min
Ready In: 30 min

Ingredients:
  • Rice (Eg. Sona Masoori) - 1 cup
  • Water - 3 cups
  • Salt (optional)
Directions:
  1. Wash the rice with water and drain the water. Repeat. 
  2. Add the water to the rice and add salt if required. 
  3. Keep the rice in a pressure cooker, close with a lid if an intermediate vessel is being used, and keep on high flame until 1 whistle blows. Reduce to low flame and keep for 10 minutes. Turn off the flame. 
  4. Rice is ready once the pressure reduces!
Measure the rice and wash it. Add 3 times the amount of water. Add salt if required. Cook in pressure cooker. 

Serving Suggestions:
  • The cooking time and water will vary based on the type of rice being used. 
  • If you are making large quantities of rice, you can add the rice directly in the pressure cooker. The intermediate container is not required. 
  • A rice cooker can also be used to make rice. In that case, the time does not need to be kept.
  • The rice can be eaten with paruppu, sambar, rasam, etc. It can also be used to make biriyani, fried rice, lemon rice, and puliogare.
