Kothukari [Minced Mutton Curry]

Ingredients:
  • Minced mutton - 300 g
  • Small onion - 12-15
  • Clove - 1
  • Anise - 1
  • Jeera seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon bark - 1 small piece
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander seed powder - 1 tsp
  • Jeera powder - 2 tsp
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Roasted gram flour
Directions:
  1. Heat some ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cinnamon bark, anise, clove, jeera seeds and onion. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes. Add the turmeric, red chili powder, coriander seed powder and jeera powder. Mix well. Add some water
  2. Pressure cook until one whistle blows. Reduce the flame and keep in the pressure cooker for 5 minutes before turning off the stove.
  3. After opening the pressure cooker, add roasted gram flour to thicken and cook for 2-3 minutes. Kothukari is ready!
Mince the mutton. Heat some ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cinnamon bark, anise, clove, jeera seeds and onion. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes. Add the turmeric, red chili powder, coriander seed powder, salt and jeera powder. Mix well. Add some water and pressure cook until one whistle blows. Reduce the flame and keep in the pressure cooker for 5 minutes before turning off the stove. 

After opening the pressure cooker, add roasted gram flour to thicken and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Kothukari is ready!
Serving Suggestions:

  • Tastes great with poori or dosa.
  • Can be eaten with chapathi also.
